Infrastructure and First-day impression & formalities

Honestly speaking, the first-day impression was very good. Office address is available on google maps and easy to find. The office was located in a house it has 4 rooms, two rooms were for people who work there, one training hall for interns and a meeting room. There’s a kitchen attached to the hall where you can easily get water, tea, coffee etc.

On the first day, My first meeting was with Mr. Shariq Ahmad. He is the COO of the organization. He asked me basic questions and did the briefing of the projects and tasks to be performed.

Proper orientation is also conducted if the number of interns is more. There is no compulsion to wear college dress you can be casual or formal depending on you. People working there are very kind hearted and always ready to help you when you need to.

Main tasks

If you carry a laptop you will get to work from the office. You will get your own place, there’s is no big work, if you have basic knowledge of Microsoft office. The NGO deals in both legal and nonlegal work.

The institution works mainly on gender equality, youth empowerment, and sexual reproductive health issues. The other works include the research, drafting, conducting surveys, fundraising, event management, focusing towards youth empowerment.

Work environment and people

The environment was friendly. It was a very good experience to talk to them and work with them. If there’s any problem, our coordinator Swati Ma’am was always there to help.

Best things

I got the opportunity learned a lot and interact with different people from different walks of life. There was not even a single day when I got bored during the internship. There’s a variety of work, like drafting and research, doing promotion work, media meeting etc. The organization also conducted a two-day Advocacy Workshop which helped me in increasing my skills.

Bad things

There is nothing bad about the organization.

Accommodation

Accommodation is not a problem in cities like Lucknow, Hostels and PGs are very easily available in Gomti Nagar and Hazratganj at reasonable prices. I lived in a hostel in Lalbagh, Hazratganj which was affordable and transportation to office was good from there.

Stipend

No stipend.

Biggest Lessons

You will get to know how NGOs work. Being a Law student, you will feel proud to work for society. In the first year working with an NGO is a good choice.
