Application Procedure

There were no further formalities regarding the Application Procedure.

My father recommended me to one of our relative, who is the senior advocate of the Venattu Law Associates. Since my father had known him for years, it was an easy process to apply for this firm.

First day impression, formalities

I have started my internship on 22nd June 2015. The senior advocate informed me that I have to reach by sharp 8:00 AM.

The first time when I have arrived at the location, the infrastructure to be described was more of a villa.

It was a hectic day for the co-workers of the firm. One of the colleague members told me to sit somewhere comfortable and read some recent cases.

At 10:00 AM, I tagged along with the senior advocate to go to the Judicial First Class Magistrate Court.

My task was to observe the proceedings of the Hon’ble Court. I was the only student to intern with the senior advocate.

Main Task Performed

Throughout my internship days, I had been travelling with the junior advocate to Pathanamthitta. He had taken me to the Hon’ble Family Court. His clerk had tagged along with us. The junior advocate had dealt with the case for restitution of conjugal rights.

For the first five days, I had gone only to the Hon’ble Family Court and Munsiff Court. My basic task was to observe the proceedings of the Hon’ble Court and write a complete report of my observations during my internship journey.

Work Environment and People

The senior advocate was not always in sight. From my understanding, he is a busy man.

There were other co-workers, who were friendly towards me. I used to have a chit-chat with two clerks.

They were really hardworking people. They used to provide me food during lunch time.

Apart from work what other this you did to chill during your internship

I did not have much entertainment during my internship days. They were really strict. So I just had to sit and write my entire report.

I only read cases, analyzed the problem and interpreted the case. I shared my views to the junior advocate. He was pretty impressed with the interpretation I made.

Therefore, I had been writing my internship report throughout my journey.

The firm was in Blockpadi. My house was 30 minutes away from the Venattu Law Associates. So, it did not take that much time to reach the firm.

Stipend was not provided.

Why would you recommend this internship?

Every Law student requires some exposure and experience. There are students who are lazy to get up from their bed and work. But once they start working in this firm, there is no going back to the bed, including no food.

We take pains to improve our performance and put a good impression on our seniors. I recommend every Law student to join this firm and I believe that they will make their weakness as their strength.

This entry has been submitted for the LexisNexis-Lawctopus Internship Experience Writing Competition 2015-2016. iPleaders is the learning partner for this competition.
