The International Dispute Resolution Moot is an initiative of the University College Lahore (UCL). UCL, a premier institute of Pakistan for legal studies.
UPDATE: The deadline has been extended to January 20, after a request from Lawctopus. Also, we are now the media partners for this event.
Not only through its academic excellence but also through different extra-curricular and co-curricular platforms UCL has opened different avenues for students that help them expand their horizons.
Hosting this competition in the most vibrant city of Pakistan will enable participants to get a real feel of how the legal system works and the wonders that Lahore has to offer.
Being the historical hub of Pakistan; Lahore with its cultural diversity and festivities invites you to join us for a memorable experience.
The idr 2015 will be the first of its type and University College Lahore hopes to promote arbitration and mediation as alternate dispute resolution concepts within the system of Pakistan.
The wide variety of cultures within Pakistan and internationally will join together to bring about a vibrant learning experience for everyone.
The idr 2015 comprises both mediation and arbitration in one competition and allows one student in each moot (not involving their home university) an opportunity to act as arbitrator and mediator.
Its unique structure involves an arbitral hearing taking place immediately followed by mediation proceedings.
This format was first pioneered in the 2010 by the City University of Hong Kong in their competition and was a great success.
Through this Moot, UCL hopes to highlight the importance of ADR in the effective and fast disposition of justice in our society.
In this moot competition we aim to focus on providing the participants with an opportunity to thoroughly acquaint themselves with the process of arbitration and mediation and create a familiarity with international conventions on commercial and corporate law.
