First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the first day, I was introduced to the organisation. I was also shown around the office and made to personally meet everyone at the office. After an introduction round, we were to meet Mr. Prashant Tiwari, the Director of the organisation. He asked me about my interests.

We discussed what tasks I could possibly do. The first day was only the beginning of a beautiful internship experience.

The office is situated in M.P Nagar Bhopal which is a commercial area. The NGO has various branches all over India and a recent branch was opened at Morena (M.P) and more than 1500 people are full time member assigned different posts.

Main Task

On the first day of our internship we were introduced to their office work in which this NGO deals. Main task of the NGO was for Health and Education for Children and they are agents of PMKVY where central government plays main role for the implementation of the scheme through its agencies.

The NGO’s main task is to provide better skill training  to Indian youth for their better livelihood. It is basically a flagship scheme of Ministry of skills development and entrepreneurship. The NGO provides training to people for skill development on Web Designing, Java, C++ etc.

For two days we went to nearest village and filled form according to their qualification for providing Jobs and then we even prepared Excel Sheet arranged according to their qualification.

On one of the days, our NGO conducted Scholarship Test for the students who are intelligent but unable to afford fees. The NGO provides admission to best schools like Delhi Public School, Sanskar Valley etc for half the fees for which they conduct scholarship test in which we were volunteers and this test can be given by any of the student and according to it ten students are selected.

Our NGO even conducts report and blog writing on condition of child health and education and how it can be improved and further they publish it.

Recently, Think For Smile Foundation branch Bhopal had completed four years of establishment for which they distributed food and clothes to poor people. Members of the NGO monthly collect old clothes and distribute it monthly in the nearest area to poor people. Even they distributed helmets in nearest village.

On one of the days, 15 members of the NGO conducted road show for providing awareness in child health which need to be taken care this rainy season.

Work environment and people

The work environment was very professional, however at the same time very homely. You are free to approach anyone at any point for what-so-ever help you require. Lunch is had together.

Everyone keeps checking up on you and the work that you are doing, even if they are not your supervisors. It is extremely encouraging that the seniors constantly review your work and give you suggestions and insights on how to make your work better.

You don’t live unless you live for the future. These children are the future.
