Eligibility Criteria: The Competition is open to the students who are pursuing their B.A.LLB. / LL.M./ M.Phil./ Ph.D./ or any other Undergraduate or Master courses (other than Law) in any university across the world.

​Co-authorship to a maximum of two authors is permitted.

Only original essays will be considered for the competition.

No part of it should have been published earlier nor should it be under consideration for publication or a contest elsewhere.

Moreover, any form of plagiarism will result in disqualification of the essay.

Neither RCL nor Surana & Surana International Attorneys, Chennai will be responsible for the act of plagiarism.

Deadline for Submission through E-mail: 30th June 2017

Declaration of results: 30th September 2017

Submission must be mailed at seminar@msrcl.org

Top 15 papers will be published in the form of an edited book with an ISBN No.

The list of these selected papers will be displayed on the RCL website.

Author (s) of the selected essay will be given a consolation prize of 1000/- each along with the certificate of publications (except the top three winners of the competition).

  1. The poster says the registration form needs to be signed and sealed by head of institution. I am having summer vacations now, there is no way I can get that done. And I am halfway with my essay already. What do I do now?

    • The registration form is to be sent along with the essay. The registration form must be
      signed and sealed by the Head of the Institution/University. (Available in download
      form on RCL Website). In the case of unavailability of the Head of the Institution, any
      senior faculty may sign the same. Or you may send the scanned copy of your Identity

    • The Competition is open to the students who are pursuing their B.A.LLB./LL.M./M.Phil./Ph.D./ or any other Undergraduate or Master courses (other than Law) in any university across the world.

      • See B.A. LL.B., does not include B.B.A. LL.B., or B.Com.LL.B, or B.Sc. LL.B.; and the submission guidelines mention ‘or any other……(other than law)…’, which is why the query.

    • Length of the essay
      • The submission shall consist of an abstract, essay and bibliography.
      • The abstract should not be more than 200 words inclusive of title and keywords.
      • The essay should not be more than 2000-2500 words (excluding footnotes, abstract
      and bibliography).
      • Footnotes must conform to the authoritative standard rules of legal citation and
      must include a description of each authority adequate enough to allow a reasonable
      reader to identify and locate the authority in a publication of general circulation.
