Duration of internship and timings

1st June, 2016 to 30th June, 2016

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On the first day, I was briefed about the kind of the work that was done at the NGO. I was asked to go through their newsletters to get a better idea about it.

The newsletter consisted of many different types of reports such as analytical, comparative, statistical, etc.

One thing to point out though would be that there were even 2 specially-abled people employed there in their office staff. It was really inspirational to see them work hand-in-hand with everyone with equal vigor and no discrimination at all.

Main tasks

Mainly concentrated upon carrying out a legal sensitization drive in the nearby village of Chachiyawas.

I along with 3 co-interns, were tasked with preparing a mini presentation to be shown to people in order to create awareness about their legal rights and other basic human rights.

So, these few days were like a preparation phase, wherein we put up a mini presentation, translated things so as to get the message across, etc. We carried out legal sensitization drives for the village people in the school.

Apart from the legal sensitization, they were also made aware of other social issues and we interacted with them to understand their plights and also provide them a hands-on solution.

Work environment and people

My colleagues at the NGO were very supportive.

At first I surprised to see their selflessness and dedication towards the cause. they inspired me to do well.

Taught me many local terms and small techniques in day to day life.

Best things

Inspiration to do something well towards the society. Also got to know the ground realities in the rural ares, and realized the need for improvement in the education sector.

It was a very fulfilling and cherishing experience for me.

Bad things

Very good experience to learn the ground realities of the under privileged.

But there is not much gain from a lawyers point of perspective.

Stipend

None

Biggest Lessons

Gave me an experience of development of educational institutions in the rural areas.

The ground realities of the rural areas also including other realities like of the hardships they face, the agricultural problems and its effect on the other problems.
