Duration of the Internship/ Timings:
I interned for a period of one month. One has to report to office at 11:00 AM and can leave by 7:00 PM. However, the timings can be flexible.
First Day Formalities:
The office is situated in B Block, Kailash Colony, near the main market. The nearest metro station is Kailash Colony. The office is in lower ground floor. It is quite quaint and nicely structured. Every Intern has to bring his/her own laptop for the duration of internship to work on the tasks.
On our First day we were asked to wait for a while in conference room as all the associates were in High Court at that time. After a while we were given some statutory research work that was required on an urgent basis.
We also had an interaction with Advocate Vaibhavi Sharma, for the period of internship we were placed under her. Ma’am is very sweet and knowledgeable. She is always open to queries and clarifies any doubts that one might have. Since it was only our first day, we were allowed to leave by 6:00 PM.
Even though we were placed under the supervision of Vaibhavi Ma’am but all the associates can delegate work to you. As the firm majors in Corruption Cases, most of the work is related to CBI cases.
You will always have some work and will not be left idle for long. However, the same also depends upon your keenness. The work is diverse. One might get from research work to drafting as well. Sometimes you also have to prepare case briefs and summary of statements recorded under S.161 of CrPC.
Moreover, you might also get to scrutinize the documents. You can also write an article on any topic as part of your internship and the associates will also guide you in that regard.
Court visits are also arranged for the interns and one might get to visit almost any court. However, we visited High Court and Supreme Court during our tenure.
All the associates are very humble and helpful. They are approachable and one might ask them any query and they will patiently clarify it and explain the provisions, if there is any doubt. It is very pleasant to work there.
If you are not able to do certain work allotted, you can easily walk up to them for a little head start and they will be more than happy to give you a lead to start your work on. They review all your tasks and actually entrust you with real responsibilities.
The working environment is very nice and the firm has a decent library. Moreover, the market is nearby and you can go there in lunch.
We witnessed the proceedings of the Amity Case and scrutinized the documents seizure from the Delhi Government office back in 2015; which now are part of a CBI case, wherein the firm is representing a few accused persons
There is no parking space outside the office as all the houses have reserved parking. So, if you are travelling by personal vehicle, you might have to park it in the Kailash colony market.
One can get a PG in Kailash Colony itself or in Amar Colony, Vikram Vihar, Old Double Storey which is within 2-4 km from the office.
