The Society for Non-Human Persons (SNHP) at the National Law School of India University, Bangalore will be hosting the First edition of the Humane Society International/India Presents NLSIU Animal Protection PIL Competition, 2017 from the 20th -22nd January, 2017.
This first of its kind competition will be held over two stages: memorial qualification round and oral rounds.
We’ll be releasing 5 issues/themes on the 15th of November along with the rest of the schedule.
The NLSIU Animal Rights PIL Competition is to provide students all over India an opportunity to develop knowledge in the field of Animal Welfare Law and Constitutional law while honing their written and oral advocacy skills.
The dearth of interest in this field is owing to the lack of extra-curricular activities which provide a hands on experience with the law.
This first of its kind endeavor in India, will not only generate legal interest in students, but also legitimize this field of law as a more accessible career option while promoting Judicial Activism.
The winning team’s PIL will be filed in the Supreme/High Court with the help of the Legal Services Clinic, NLSIU and our Associate Research Partner, the Centre for Law and Policy Research. Multiple teams from the same institution as well as cross university teams are allowed as well.
University teams have to apply through this form. Click HERE.
