One of the members of Indus Action posted about their campaign “ Project Eklavya” on one of the Google groups I had been subscribed to. It was basically a campaign on implementation of section 12(1) C of RTE which seeks to secure the admission of children of marginalized communities in private schools.
The campaign was to facilitate awareness regarding the provision of 25% seats, which lie reserved for the children from economically weaker backgrounds. They were looking for a social media lead for the same. The idea fascinated me and I applied for the same.
Following this they conducted an informal telephonic interview and followed it up with a small task for selection. I submitted the task and was selected for the position of the social media lead.
Most of the work included research on RTE Section12 and content creation for the campaign along with managing social media groups for the same. It included creating stories and also writing success stories on people who had benefitted from the campaign.
The basic idea was to increase awareness hence the content was also centered on the same.
The work was really interesting and motivated me in more than one ways. The three month long association with such a brilliant team was a learning experience and I also ended up being really good friends with most of them.
