NLSIU Bangalore is glad to state that Strawberry Fields, in its 20 th Edition, will take place from the 9th – 11th of December this year.
Ever since its inception way back in 1996, Strawberry Fields has focused on promoting grassroots music; this is why the entry remains free for all with no formalities. It is one of India’s oldest and most prestigious Music Festivals and has won numerous accolades oncluding being called ‘India’s Best College Rock Festival’ by the Rock Street Journal.
The show goes on for Three days, with the bands from all over the country battling it out on the first two days and five finalists then proving their mettle on the final day. These 40 bands usually come from all over the country and we see regular participants from Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta as well as the North East and all of South India. The show is eclectic with no constrains on genres.
This year, one is likely to see Various strands of genres such as Alternative Rock, Hard Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Post Rock, Indie, Heavy Metal, Death metal and many more. There’s something for everyone.
On Saturday and Sunday, the competitive bands are followed by a Six Special Acts and headliners. They are usually the best bands on a pan India consideration who have established themselves as the biggest names in the music scene.
This year, we’re proud to host Parvaz, Kryptos and Swaratma, each bringing their own unique style of music and perspective. In such safe hands, we expect both Saturday and Sunday to draw in over a thousand people from all over Bangalore.
In connection with its goal to promote original music, Strawberry fields has served as the launch pad to both fame and success for many of the most respected bands in the independent music scene. Bands like Thermal and a Quarter, Demonic Resurrection and Mother Jane began their journey to success after winning at Strawberry Fields.
Even newer bands that are now recognized names such as Clown with a Frown, Down Troddence and Bicycle Days have played and won at Strawberry Fields, which gave them the necessary platform to showcase their talent and go on to become who they are now.
Last year’s winners, Rocazaures, this year opened for Slash, one of the best guitarists in the World.
With the preparations almost complete, a guarantee of quality music and free entry, there is no reason to be anywhere else this weekend.
