About the Refresher Course
National Law School of India University, since its inception has been involved in organizing U.G.C.–Sponsored Refresher Courses for law teachers aimed at advancing the quality of teaching and research in all branches of law, both at the graduate and post-graduate levels. The duration of the courses varied between one week to three weeks and the subject areas extended to substantive and procedural courses.
In line with the above objective, the present Refresher Course will look at the syllabus, study materials and teaching methods of Constitutional Law, International Law, Environmental Law, Human Rights Law, Contract Law, Business Law and Arbitration Law. Updating recent developments in knowledge and skills on the laws as well as emerging tools and techniques for better teaching/learning of these subjects will be the focus of the course.
About the Programme
The objective of this one week program is to understand the various methods, skills required for law teaching and the mechanism to adapt in classroom exercises. The contextual approach to teaching law presumes that the gap between legal theories, principles and their application and practice, is quite wide. Yet law surrounds every aspect of our daily lives. Be it social, economic or political.
Can our law programmes be systematically strengthened? Can our legal education not only be socially relevant, intellectually stimulating, professionally competent but also be practically significant? Can our legal education expand beyond merely imparting the knowledge of law and be able to motivate the concerned to develop analytical and practical
skills of self-learning? These are some of the questions the Refresher course aims to address.
