The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (ADRC) of NLIU, Bhopal announces its 7th Edition of the much awaited NLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament to be held from 23rd – 25th November, 2018.
This year in addition to continuing our association with the International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR), we are proud to be partnered with The Negotiation Academy, New York International Arbitration Centre, Indian Bar Association and Pine Law Partners.
In addition to this, Ms. Meghann Sweeney and Mr. Case H. Ellis form an integral part of this Tournament and will be conducting training sessions. In the training sessions, the participants are introduced to the structure of mediation session and to the intricacies of mediation such as caucuses, opening statements, summaries, closing statements and general conduct during the session.
More importantly, participants are taught the art of identifying the real issues involved and of dealing them in the course of mediation session. These training sessions are designed to prepare the participants not only for the competition but also to train them for real life situations.
Participation in this tournament is through invitation only, but any law college/university/institute may apply for an invite by sending a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org expressing their desire to participate.
The deadline to fill in the type form released with the pre-invite is 2nd September,2018.
The competition is limited to students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB, BCL, JD or equivalent).
The registration fee per team is set at INR 6000 and USD 100 (Foreign Nationals).
Teams are permitted to bring coaches for the Tournament. They will be charged an additional Rs. 2000 (two thousand INR) per coach. Similarly, colleges outside India who wish to bring their coach will be charged an additional USD 50 (per coach)
Each university may send a total of three teams, comprising of three members each, who will play the roles of client, counsel and mediator.
The tournament will comprise of three rounds of mediation, where each member will have to play the role of client, counsel and mediator once.
The top four client-counsel teams and top four mediators from the prelims shall face each other in two concurrent grand finals.
INADR prescribes 10 best awards each in the 4 categories namely Client Advocate Pair, Mediators, Mediation Team, Client Advocate team categories.
Prize money for the awards will be announced soon.
Additionally, NLIU has instituted prize money to be awarded to the best teams in the Tournament.
Winners would also be entitled to discounts on ADR courses run by the collaborators of the Tournament
Last day for Payment of Registration Fees and Accommodation Fees: 28th October, 2018.
First Round of Allotments: Till 18th August, 2018.
