NLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament 2016
The Alternative Dispute Resolution Cell (ADRC) of NLIU, Bhopal announces its 5th Edition of the much awaited NLIU-INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament to be held from 25th – 27th November, 2016.
This year in addition to continuing our association with the International Academy of Dispute Resolution (INADR), we are proud to be partnered with World Meditation Organization (WMO), International Mediation Institute (IMI) and Young Mediators Initiative (YMI), promising an experience that would be even more challenging and competitive.
We are also holding lecture series conducted by WMO officials and training session organized by Ms. Meghann Sweeney, Mr. Case H. Ellis and Mr. Thomas Valenti, who are experienced professionals in mediation.
These workshops shall be aimed at ensuring that the participants are acquainted with the various intricacies of mediation, preparing them for real life negotiations.
Participation in this tournament is through invitation only, but any law college/university/institute may apply for an invite by sending a mail to nliu.inad[email protected] expressing their desire to participate.
The competition is limited to students pursuing their Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB, BCL, JD or equivalent).
The registration fee per team is set at INR 6000 and USD 100 (Foreign Nationals).
Each university may send a total of three teams, comprising of three members each, who will play the roles of client, counsel and mediator.
The tournament will comprise of three rounds of mediation, where each member will have to play the role of client, counsel and mediator once.
The top four client-counsel teams and top four mediators from the prelims shall face each other in two concurrent grand finals.
This year along with the prize-money awards/cash awards for the various categories, including Best Team, Best Client-Counsel, and Best Mediator, WMO will be offering a 100% scholarship to the winning team and 20% Scholarship for all the participants.
Please note that in order to ensure a high quality of competition, we will give preference to teams with prior experience in mediation, negotiation and other ADR events while selecting teams for participation.
While allotting slots to Universities from the set team cap, preference shall be towards the first team, while the second team will be wait-listed until slots are available.
Your first team should, therefore, ideally comprise of the most experienced members.
