The National Law Institute University (NLIU) was established in Bhopal by the Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalaya Adhiniyam, by an Act No. 41 of 1997 enacted by the Madhya Pradesh State Legislature.
The university launched its first academic programme in with Indian jurist Prof. V.S. Rekhi as the Director. It is one of the first three law schools to have been established under the National Law School system and is recognized by the University Grants Commission and the Bar Council of India.
The VISION of NLIU is to become one of the best centres of legal education, training and research in the world.
The MISSION of NLIU is to develop and nurture the intellect for the betterment of the nation and humanity through Law and Justice.
The OBJECTIVES of the NLIU inter alia, are to contribute to the national development by instilling a sense of responsibility among her students, while simultaneously cultivating in them a spirit of intellectual freedom, qualities of leadership, imaginative power and clarity.
As directed by Chairman of the Search Committee, nominations are invited from reputed persons or institution in the field of law or legal profession for consideration for the consideration for the post of Director, National Law Institute University, Bhopal.
A professor who has made significant contribution to knowledge and is an outstanding scholar in law with minimum of ten years of experience as Professor of Law in a University system or with at least ten years of experience in equivalent position in reputed research organization and adequate experience of university administration (relevant provisions of the Act and Regulations are annexed).
The Search Committee duly constituted as per provisions of The Rashtriya Vidhi Sansthan Vishwavidyalya Adhiniyam, 1997 (Madhya Pradesh Act No. 41 of 1997) shall consider the nominations sponsored by reputed persons or institutions in the field of law or legal profession and recommend a panel of names for appointment.
Interested persons of repute or institutions in the field of law or legal profession may nominate the name of outstanding scholars in law along with Curriculum Vitae of the person so sponsored with their recommendations for consideration.
