If Arindam Chaudhuri would title this post, it would be ‘Dare to think beyond internship experiences and events/opportunities’!

But yes, we are looking to make Lawctopus a more interesting space with more pieces covering interesting takes on the law, law school life, and more.

Our long-standing dream has been to bring student experiences into the public domain.

Experiences which tell tales of sorrow, happiness, moot courts, and CGPAs, crushes, career conundrums, and existential crisis. Blog posts which inform, agitate, inspire and amuse. Book reviews, movie reviews, re-wows of trips, re-vows of feminist marriages.

We also want perspectives from law teachers and deans and law firm bosses on Lawctopus; they are mostly lovely and their words need listening.

To help us achieve this and more we are looking to hire 2 content editors. You’ll be required to work for around 2 hours/day with breaks available during exams and internships. The tenure will be for 6 months, extendable up to a year.

Your tasks will include:

1. Interviewing faculty, students, deans, and lawyers.

2. Editing blog posts submitted by students via our blogging competitions.

3. Sourcing content from various student-run blogs (with permission of course).

4. Conceptualising, initiating, and implementing new editorial and content initiatives.

5. Writing a weekly piece (if you want).

Skills Required:

1. Ability to work unsupervised (this is remote work so) like a boss!

2. Excellent English writing and editing skills.

3. Prior experience of working with a media publication and of WordPress will be a plus.

What’s in it for you?

1. We’ll help you secure an internship you want (we can’t guarantee but we’ll try our best). This will include a CV review, helping you shortlist options, career counseling, and approaching our contacts.

2. A stipend based on the number of posts published.

3. A-Z learning about online content management.

4. A certificate at the end of the tenure.

5. An opportunity to work on content that will be read by 1000s of law students across the country.

How to apply?

If you are interested, please send an email to tanuj.kalia@lawctopus.com with the subject line ‘Lawctopus Editor Application‘ containing below all in the body of the email:

  1. Your name and phone number.
  2. 100-200 words about you.
  3. Your skills and experience in writing and editing.
  4. Your past experience in working in similar jobs (if any).
  5. Interesting ‘content initiatives’ that you’d like to start. (For example, getting prize winning moot memorials is one initiative; interviewing best faculty members is another).

Feel free to let your personality show in your email.

The last date to apply is September 15. (Early applications are encouraged as the position will be closed as soon as we zero in on someone with a ‘spring in their pens’).
