Name of Institution, Year
I am in my 4th year of Law at University of Law and Legal Studies,Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Dwarka, New Delhi.
Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
KK Sareen & Associates, Advocates at Patiala House Court (Chamber number 169), New Delhi. Office in B-7, Safdarjung Enclave, New Delhi. Adv. Aman Sareen with around 10-15 associates.
I got it through reference but one can directly apply through firstname.lastname@example.org.
Duration of internship and timings
One month in July 2017.
Timings: 10 am to 2:30 pm for various court proceedings in district courts, High Court and the Supreme Court after that we need to work in the office for the next day’s cases and other miscellaneous work till 7:30 – 8 pm.
Office work, Experiences
I was given the contact number of an associate so that I could coordinate with her. We would attend all the matters and do some misc work and by around 2-3 after completion of the court cases all the associates would reach the office after which they work on the cases for the next day.
Also, Aman sir really encourages the interns to attend as many court proceedings as possible so that we can gain both experience and knowledge. He suggests that we read the files thoroughly and even encourages the interns to argue in the court.
The main task would be to read various files and make short notes for the respective files which the juniors would go through. The notes should contain the important details yet precise.
At times the interns were also asked to make arguments, questions for examination of witnesses, etc.
The other tasks would include drafting complaints, applications, quashing of proceedings etc.
Work environment and people
All his associate advocates were very helpful specially Ravi Mehta Sir and Nidhi Ma’am and Kriti Ma’am.
They would guide the interns and assign them good work, teach them about the basics of litigation and would actually supervise if you’re actually learning.
Also Aman Sir was always ready to guide the interns in any way required and he too took active interest in the interns and their activities.
The best part was the court exposure and the drafting work.
I always wanted to pursue law and was always inclined towards the criminal side. But I never really experienced how criminal litigation really is. This was my first experience under an advocate and it was truly the best.
There was so much to learn and the environment was so conducive and people really appreciate you for your work and guide you whenever needed.
Everyday there was something new to learn and one would never get bored.
