We have received a great number of applications after the post was put up on Lawctopus. After seeing the great response we have decided to expand our project and increase our intake to 7-8 applicants. We are extending the final date for submission of applications to the 4th May, 2016.


Nyaya Bharti initiative by Bharti Enterprises is inviting applications for full time litigation positions (“Associates”) for its legal aid project which aims to provide sustainable legal assistance to underprivileged undertrials languishing in various prisons across the country (“Project”).

Currently, the initiative is seeking to engage around 7-8 Associates to work on the Project.

About the Project

The objective of the Project is to empanel lawyers to provide pro-bono legal services to undertrial prisoners who are otherwise unable to afford quality legal representation for themselves.

The Project, is being carried out with the support of Wadhwa Law Chambers, headed by Mr. Anirudh Wadhwa and Mr. Aditya Wadhwa (advocates practicing in Delhi).

This initiative will focus on prisoners in Delhi initially, and then will gradually expand its presence to cover the entire North India through smaller regional offices.


Selected applicants would be expected to undertake all tasks as a part of the Project, involving

i. Providing administrative support in building the Project by interacting with

ii. Coordinating with prison authorities to ensure effective access to prison records and

iii. Strategizing the trial for the cases, which would qualify to be taken up by the Project;

iv. Entering appearance and managing the bail process for persons selected for grant of important stakeholders including District and State Legal Services Authorities, High Court and Supreme Court Judges; prison access; and aid.

Qualifications and Prior Experience

Candidates must have a passion for criminal law and for working for the cause of the underprivileged. Candidates must be qualified advocates having license to practice law in India.

Experienced candidates (atleast 2 years +) are preferred.


Salary will be within the range of INR 25,000 – INR 30,000 per month (subject to increase) depending upon experience.
