Universal Legal Attorneys at Law, Chennai

1st July to 30th July 2016

Brief about the firm

Universal Legal Attorneys at Law is a full service law firm. The firm has six offices across the country and is affiliated to Chugh LLP, Los Angeles.

I interned in the Chennai Office which consisted of two partners, about ten associates and other administrative staff. It is located in Nungambakkam and is easily accessible from anywhere in the city.

Application Procedure

The firm’s website consists of an internship form to be filled online.

The response is usually quick and interested candidates may apply well in advance before the intended duration of the internship.

Office Timings

The office works all through Monday to Friday. The office timings are from 9 am to 6.30 pm but in case of any urgent work, the interns were asked to stay back a bit late.

They made sure the interns reached back safely whenever such a need occurred.

First Day

The atmosphere in the office was very warm and welcoming. The interns were greeted and introduced to everyone personally by the HR and were given separate cubicles to work on.

We were also made to sign a confidentiality agreement. Work was assigned almost immediately after everyone settled down.

Work and Work Environment

The main tasks included research work on diverse matters ranging from RBI and SEBI Regulations, various trade legislation, and so on. The interns were also asked to proof read and review agreements, make and update memorandum on different regulations.

The work environment is professional and all the associates are easily approachable. The interns are well briefed on the task which they have to complete. One may clear as many doubts and everyone is always patient and happy to help.

Work is usually given by the associates but one can always go ask for more. There were a few days where there was not much of work but it was also compensated with busy packed days.

I would recommend it to any law student who wants to start exploring the corporate field.
