I contacted Prof. Vijay Raghvan who is the head in charge of the Field Action Projects in TISS.

I was selected for the project Towards Advocacy and Networking (TANDA) which extensively works for the empowerment of the de-notified and nomadic tribes in Maharashtra.

TISS is one of the leading institutions in India in the field of research in social sciences and minority rights.

I was introduced to the team and made aware about the work in TANDA.

We got our our TISS IDs to access all the library resource and material online.

TISS has great infrastructure.

Main tasks

I was asked to make a detailed report by studying the literature on Nomadic and De-notified tribes of Maharashtra. Also, they had sent me on field work studying these communities very closely.

Work environment and people

Friendly and academic oriented work culture.

Best things

Access to the well stocked library of TISS was something which helped me acquire the tools for my report.

The work culture was something I really enjoyed and the field work experience helped me understand the issues faced by these communities in a more comprehensive way.
