Accommodation

I am a resident of Kolkata but I had co-interns who were from outside Kolkata and due to the office being located in the hub of the city, they didn’t have any major traveling issues. You can look for accommodation near Girish Park, an area not very far off that has plenty of reasonable accommodation options.

First Day

I reported at the office at around 9.30 and met the HR head, Aditi ma’am. She quizzed me on my interests and asked me which department I would like to work in after which I was assigned to Bibek sir who was of great help throughout my internship period.

Internship Experience

It was a good internship experience all in all. Since I had chosen the criminal law department the daily routine comprised of reaching the office at around 9.30 then heading to the City Sessions Court and occasionally the High Court. Returning to the office at around lunch time and then going through case briefs and discussing the same with co-interns and sir.

Sinha also conducts an Intern Moot, which is a great learning experience in itself, since it’s judged by senior advocates working in the firm and well since moots are a great way to learn about diverse issues at once.

The firms’ founding day fell during my internship period and that day they were having a party in the office, the food was great and so was the music. How many interns can brag about having a full-blown party in their office?

Pros

Great working environment
Inclusivity of interns and treating them as a part of the office team
A very motivated office atmosphere
Great location adjacent to the Calcutta High Court

Cons

Wifi connectivity is an issue so that’s something you have to deal with yourself

Conclusion

All in all, it was was a great experience. Its one of those places where if you want work, you’ll always have something to do meaning that for a large part the onus of how your experience will be at this place largely depends on you. That being said, if you do want to work, most of the advocates and staff here will be happy to help and guide you.
