How big was the office? Team strength?
The office is right in front of the High Court Campus in City Centre Building. The carpet area of the office is around 700 sq ft which is spacious and more than sufficient for the current strength of the team.
The team strength is 3 which comprises of two partners- Mr. Raghvendra Singh Raghuvanshi and Mrs. Nidhi Vaidya; and one associate. The support staff of the office includes a clerk- Mr. Jaideep Singh and an office boy- Mr. Deepak Salvi. The support staff is very helping and humble.
Application procedure. Internship contact details
For applying, send your CV along with application to [email protected] at least 2-3 months prior to your desired period. They usually take interns from third year and above.
Duration in weeks. No. of days/week. Timings
I interned there for 8 Weeks. The office is open for 6 days a week. The official working hours are from 10 AM to 8 PM. You are encouraged to complete your work efficiently during the office hours and leave the office on time.
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I luckily got a shared accommodation in a bungalow on Race Course Road which is hardly 1.5 KMs from the office. I lived there with 2 engineering college students who were very friendly and humble. The accommodation was good. There is a mess nearby. So, no need to worry about the food as well.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
This was my third internship in the firm. So, the office was not new to me. I had a casual talk with Raghvendra Sir and then headed for work.
You are required to submit a passport size photograph along with an authority letter (preferred) from your institution.
Since this was my third time, I was majorly assigned drafting work. I was expected to draft Replies to Writ Petitions, Writ Petitions, Bail Applications, S.138 NI Act legal notices, Caveats, Interim Applications, etc. You are expected to be equipped and diligent enough to undertake the drafting assignments.
Raghvendra Sir first explains the matter while assigning any file and expects the intern to come up with a draft prepared all by himself and then, finalizes the draft prepared by the intern in his presence while making discussions and marking out the shortcomings. This entire exercise proves to be very enlightening for an intern.
However, if you intern there for the first time, you are made to work with the firm’s clerk for the initial 3-4 days during the court hours and learn the procedural work and also attend the matters. The clerk takes care of this exercise very well.
After court hours, you will be assigned research work or will be required to read the upcoming cases as per requirement. After you have sufficiently learned the procedure, you will gradually be given more research and drafting assignments.
Work environment, people
The work environment is congenial and relaxed. Raghvendra Sir encourages opinion of the interns on every matter they work on, weighs them and then discusses its viability with them.
He also encourages the interns to ask doubts but you must read first before you ask. He listens to the doubts and clears them very patiently. With him, it is an on the go learning experience.
Small Team, You get more quality work. The entire team sits together in the evening for snacks and discussions about the entire day.
You get to work on cases ranging from corporate law to criminal law, from educational laws to family laws, banking laws, service laws, etc.
Since I was majorly assigned drafting work this time, it used to get a little boring for me to sit back in office and work. However, Raghvendra Sir used to make up for that as well by taking me for court visits and giving a little dose of that thrill as well.
What did you do to chill?
I and my co-interns sometimes used to go to “Chappan Dukan” which was the best place nearby to eat and hangout. Indore is famous for its craze for food. One must visit Sarafa (the midnight street food market) and Rajwada as well.
There is no stipend offered. However, you might receive it if you perform well. I received Rs. 5000/-.
Do not run after big names. Value work and intern at a place where you get an opportunity to learn.
