Students an apply for internship at Punjab State human Rights Commission through Lawoctopus.
They usually prefer to take up interns in the month of May and June. You can contact them for the same at firstname.lastname@example.org
Duration of internship and timings
Duration of internship was 4 weeks and timings were generally from 10 am to 4 pm.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
The first impression at the commission was quite different from expected. It is unlike any “sarkari” office. They was small orientation on the first day to really know about what the commission does. The infrastructure is decent enough.
The main task assigned was to scrutinize the incoming cases relating to human rights and conduct group discussions on whether cognizance can be taken or not. A couple of debates were also organised. In the last week, all the interns were assigned to some research work too.
Work environment and people
The work environment in pretty decent. Except 30-40 interns with you.
The first in this list would be the mentors who helped and guided us in each step.
Secondly, Sector 34-A has a huge market were you can have real good food.
Nothing specifically bad about this internship.
This internship was an eye-opener when it comes to cases relating human rights. I got to read cases which came up in the small districts of Punjab.
