First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
First day was good. Meeting with different people and talking with them was the best part of my first day. People from different NLU’s and various other colleges intern there. Everyday you’ll meet new interns at PUCL. One can easily make good contacts at PUCL, Jaipur.
Office is small consisting of 4 small rooms out of which 1 is only for interns.
Random visits of police stations in order to see the functioning of the women’s desk, study for the Rajasthan High Court on the conditions toilets in schools in Jaipur district as well as nearby districts, survey of night shelters and homeless people, survey of various state commissions in Jaipur.
Visiting several courts like High Court, District Court, Consumer Court, Labour Court, Revenue Court etc. For every important task, we were asked to submit our reports.
Work environment and people
Work Environment was very good. You’ll never get bored while working. People there are very friendly. Plus, you’ll feel motivated when you see how Kavita Srivastava works.
Making new friends and contacts.
The work given there was quite interesting.
Making reports with friends was fun.
Collecting data for research. Bike ride with friends, having lunch with them outside etc.
The way Kavita ma’am works there is quite motivating.
Random meeting with the high court judge, chairman of different commissions etc. was also moivating.
Sometimes very large amount of work was given.
No transportation allowance was given to the interns.
Getting scolded by Kavita ma’am.
Getting to know about various things like govt. education facilities, life of the rural people, etc. will easily change your perspective about India’s education facilities. You’ll know the ‘TRUE’ ground reality of India.
Any Other Thing
According to me, it is compulsory to do an internship at an NGO first. A lawyer must know about the ground reality of his own country.
