Application Process with contact details
I applied for the internship at the MPSCDRC through application to the Registrar of the State Commission along with the recommendation letter issued by the College and College ID card.
After approval, I joined the Commission on the very next day.
Duration of internship and timings
January to February, 2016
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On the very first day, I attended Court proceedings from 11:30 pm. I was also asked to mark my presence in the attendance register and to be entered on all days of internship. There were 3 members i.e. 1 Judicial member and 2 Expert members sitting as a bench listening to the Advocates on their cases.
The building has good infrastructure and well-furnished. There is District Consumer Forum at the ground floor and MPSCRC at the first floor of the building. After court proceedings, I read case files and spent time in reading books related to Consumer Protection Act.
It was a very nice experience because the cases held were very general in nature and easily understood. On the same day, I was allotted the project which was to be submitted at the end of the internship. I also met co-interns from different colleges and learnt a lot from them too.
One should attend the court proceedings very sincerely with patience. The cases dealt are related to protection of consumers from exploitation. After proceedings, I spent my time in reading cases and books of Consumer Protection Act, 1986 in Library.
Here, no one comes to teach you rather you have to ask your doubts and get concepts clear regarding CPA,1986.
Work environment and people
The environment of the commission was very good and peaceful. The staff members were helping and cooperative. But, nothing much to learn as no one teaches you voluntarily.
If there are co-interns or friends with you then you feel quite interesting to intern at the place because you can discuss among them.
I had discussion with a lady advocate on CPA, 1986. She told me various things about consumer and its protection. I also made research on the topic given to me by one of the Advocate. I answered all the questions asked by that Advocate and got the doubts cleared.
The Hon’ble sitting members had a very good sense of humour. Their remarks were very interesting.
Moreover, I learned court etiquettes from the Advocates and saw the manner of presentation of cases and analysed them.
Many a time the learned counsels did not appear and cases were dismissed so court proceeding got over soon and hence, nothing much learnt during proceedings. No strictness. Get bored at certain times.
To learn something new, you have to experience those things. Law is that subject which goes on changing with situations and circumstances. A litigant should be well-versed with all branches of law.
Everything depends on you how you utilize the things. I came to know court manners. The thing which every law student should keep in his mind that never loose the confidence. Never give-up.
Any Other Thing
MPSCDRC is a good place to intern but one should go in group so that it becomes interesting to intern at this place. Lot to learn at this place like procedure of filing cases relating to consumer, who is consumer, what are services, etc.
Every intern-doing student at this place should purchase bare-act of the CPA, 1986 and at least go through to all the provisions for once so as to make your internship interesting.
The MPSCDRC is located at Arera Hills in Bhopal. The place is near to the DB Mall and Paryawas Bhawan. It is opposite to KV School at Arera Hills, MP Nagar, Bhopal.
Thus, there is very easy accommodation because there are various PG rooms, Hostels, Restaurants, Hotels and various place of recreation near to the commission. There are efficient transport facilities too.
Since I am a resident of Bhopal so didn’t stayed in a PG.
The court proceedings were from 11:30 to 1:00 pm and then from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
