First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
I was introduced with my senior, she inquired about my interests and asked to me to have knowledge about the basics of trademark.
It is a huge office divided into sections comprising of litigation, trademark, patent, prosecution, small conference room, big conference room, pantry, etc.
Research work is basically what an intern is expected to do. I have a keen interest towards IPR and thus this internship was beneficial. I was with the trademark prosecution department and thus learned how to use the trademark registry. I got some basic drafting work also apart from performing research on various IPR topics.
Further, interns are required to make an exit presentation on any of the current topics given by the senior. This presentation is required to be given before all the office associates.
Work environment and people
People in the office are chilled out and relaxed. there are no deadlines for interns. They give you ample of time to complete the task given and teach you as to how the work should be completed.
The fun-loving people, as I was interning during the FIFA world cup time, so every day there were sessions of the last day match and comments from every side. The associates don’t keep you aloof and try to interact with you.
You can go to any person in the office and ask for work, if you senior is busy or does not have work for you. Generally, other associates give you work after explaining in detail what outcome is expected.
Amount of work given to interns is really less and mostly includes research and case analysis. So, if you a kind of intern who wants work-work-work during internship, then you might get bored and think of skipping the office.
Being an intern who wants to learn how to work during internships, you must constantly keep asking from work from all the people in the office. There should not be reluctance in going and speaking to associates in office.
Internships are the best places to make contacts and these contacts help a lot for future opportunities. An intern should always try to work directly or indirectly with Senior Partners, for they always notice you.
