First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure
Had reached the office at 9:15 am since it was my first day and found it locked. Five minutes later an associate had arrived and after brief introduction we started talking on various topics of IPR.
Another 5 minutes later the office clerk had arrived and opened the office. Later on i was introduced to all the associates and Partners of the firm. The office was simple yet elegantly designed with each person provided with a personal computer including the Intern.
The Firm dealt exclusively in Intellectual Property matters right from their filing for registration to their Litigation. Teams consisted of litigation and non-litigation. I had good learning experience in both the teams. The non-litigation team have extensive knowledge on filing of IPR for registration.
Here I had good exposure in filing procedures and drafting of applications and tackling any problem that may arise. Since my interest is in litigation, I had the opportunity to work on and attend cases pending in various courts. Work given to me ranged from carrying-out research to drafting of petitions to preparing brief for the senior counsel.
Work environment, People
The work environment was relaxed and professional in nature. All the people of the firm are very helpful and treat you as part of them. You will forget that you are an intern there. They will answer any number questions you raise on any topic and will give you quality work to do. No nerve racking deadlines as such but they make sure you produce professional and quality work. Mr. R. Muralidharan, the partner who handles litigation makes it a point to interact with you daily and he is the person who reviewed my work in the final.
I had the wonderful opportunity to witness his arguments in court and you could learn a lot from that.I also attended his guest lecture in Christ University. They try to involve you in as many things as possible not only in work but also social activities. This way you will learn and enjoy your internship.
Best things about the firm are:
Its close proximity to High court and other courts
None that i could think of.
Rs 4000/- per month.
The icing on the cake was drafting work given to me. I had to prepare an entire petition right from scratch even though it was my first time doing it. The things I learned from that will be tremendously useful in my career.
Also for the court visits you are expected to know the facts of the case at hand. After the court arguments, Mr. R. Muralidharan asks you for your opinion which is an overwhelming gesture.
Any Other Thing
There are good restaurants serving different cuisines near to the law firm. So food is not a problem and the firm is walkable distance from Majestic Bus Stand.I was traveling from electronic city as i was staying with a friend but accommodation is available within 3-4 km of the firm.
