Duration in weeks. Days of work per week. Timings.
I interned for 2 weeks only due to my schedule problems and another internship under an advocate.
Days of work per week: 6
Timings: 10 A.M. to 7 P.M. (But if you live far away and you’ve finished your work for the day, then they leave you by 6:30. Nice people 🙂
First impression, first day, formalities
Formalities: nothing really, they just have a brief conversation with you and assign you work.
First day, first impression: well, on the first day I was asked to prepare a presentation on anti-rape laws (as I had drafted a bill on anti-rape laws for a competition in the college along with my friend).
I did not do it well as I am not so tech savvy! My knowledge of computers is restricted to MS Word (For all the memorials) and using the internet! Though I knew how to make a presentation but I did not know what he expected out of it! I was to write an article on how to make a good presentation, after preparing one.
So well I learnt how to make it but probably disappointed Mr. Ramanuj who gave me the work.
And as far as my impression about the office is concerned, it was good.
Well, after the not-so-successful first day, I bounced back on the second day!
I worked on the following under the guidance of Mr. Abhyudaya Agarwal
1) An article about the policies of e-commerce websites regarding non-delivery of products and the options available to a consumer;
2) Researched about the Google Books, Maps, Street View project and Mapathon controversy;
3) Learnt about non-compete clauses in outsourcing agreements;
4) An article on PIL;
6) Thorough research on the Aruna Shabaug judgment and an article on the guidelines laid down by the Hon’ble Supreme Court in the same, for administering passive euthanasia.
7) Researched on two judgments about passing off trade dress of one product by another.
I got to learn so much in two weeks! A longer duration would have been even more beneficial for me! I wish I could continue for a longer time.
Work environment, people
Great work environment! Friendly and understanding.
The environment is not as strict as a law firm or a lawyer’s office, but there is still something that keeps us committed to our work. It surely is the attitude of the partners which keeps our spirits high! A place where young minds interact and work together has to be great, and it really is!
The best things AND the bad things
Best things: knowledge gained, the environment, friendly and interactive attitude of the partners. The internship helped me to get back to my writing habits. They encouraged me to write blogs which I am definitely going to do!
Bad things: nothing major! Just that I found the office locked twice, even though I was not really early (I reached at 9:45 on those two occasions) but it was due to some confusion as the office boy was late. Since they shifted to Delhi from Mumbai very recently, I decided it would be wiser to ignore such events!
None. Maybe because I interned just for 2 weeks. Moreover, its the knowledge gained that matters to me, not the stipend!
