Human Rights Law Network [HRLN], New Delhi, 3
The application must be send at least 2 months prior to schedule of the internship.I interned at the Delhi office, so usually do respond within a month and do the maximum to accommodate you.
Duration of internship and timings
4 weeks, 6 days in week and the timing officially are 9:30 am to 6 pm but usually the work requires you to sit even for longer hours in the office.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
My first impression was not quite good. The internship coordinator actually gives you an orientation regarding the work but its actually the supervisor assigned to you matters. My supervisor had great expectation from an intern to work extensively. Gladly, I had a very hard working team with me which did not leave a crevice of doubt.
At HRLN you get variety of work from the field of human rights. You are asked to draft petitions, record complaints, make research papers to publish etc. The main attraction was itself that you get to handle diverse cases at a juncture.
The Field visits are compulsory at HRLN now but I was exempted due to urgency of work assigned to me.
They monitor your work consistently and you need keep the list of work ready by Friday, on which we have review meetings and discussions regarding work.
They also show many documentaries and make you participate in various discussions
Work environment and people
The work environment is superb!
As there are young lawyers who are very dynamic in their work and are ready to support you with any kind of work.
They are very much positive and encouraging at all times.
You get to meet fabulous people and when you leave HRLN, you certainly take something back to our own places.
I had the chance to go for demonstration where you meet people like Ms. Arundhati Roy and Mr. Arvind Kejrival.
There was no bad thing about working at HRLN as such.
You can learn immensely. But keep your ego out of the equation.
