Application procedure? Internship Contact Details
I got an opportunity to intern with Thomson Reuters as I was a part of their Legal Advancement Program (LAP-1). The LAP team sent a mail stating there is vacancy for interns at Thomson Reuters, New Delhi.
I applied and had a telephonic interview which was quite casual and then I received the confirmation.
Duration in weeks. Days of work per week. Timings.
5 days a week, Mon – Fri, timings were 9 A.M. to P.M. But the timings were flexible.
First impression, first day, formalities
My first impression about the office was pretty good. As I as waiting to meet my mentor, I was introduced to the other people working there by the HR.
I spoke to them and they all were very friendly even the people on high posts were very cool and nice. The formalities required submission of my LAP certificate and a few basic documents such as photocopy of my previous internships and my marks cards.
The main tasks assigned to me was to do a legal market research via interviews and interaction with lawyers and to research and develop a module of the various forms and agreements relating to all the major fields of law that the lawyers require in their day to day working.
The other tasks included research on various topics assigned to me by my mentor.
Work environment, people
The work environment was pretty good. It did not take me long to get adjusted in the office as the people were very helpful and friendly, specially my Mentor who helped me a lot in finding an accommodation for me. She was very worried about the fact that where am going to stay.
Throughout the internship also she helped me with each and every task and was easily reachable as and when required.
The rest of the people were also very nice and friendly. The people on the higher posts will also show concern about the other employees and all work together as team and help out each other.
The best things AND the bad things
The best thing about the internship was the quality of work I got to do and the way my mentor and others helped me throughout my internship. I learnt a great deal in this internship and developed some new skills like conducting interviews and interacting with the lawyers.
The only bad thing about the internship was the travelling part. The metro connectivity in NFC was a little poor and since I was staying with my relatives at a far away place, it turned out to be very tiring and expensive.
Rs. 4000/ month
Accommodation etc. What did you to do chill in and around the office and the place of stay?
I could not find a good accommodation in the new friends colony. However there are PGs in Lajpat Nagar but I did not like the ones I saw. I stayed at my relatives place in East Patel Nagar which was very far from the office.
There are a lot of places to chill out as right in front of the building there is a market with many good restaurants and chaat places too.
