Duration of internship and timings

1st June – 1st July, 2015

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

On first day I completed the formalities in which we need to give the recommendation letter from college, ID proof, and a photograph. Then we were give brochures of RLEK an its wings to read.

The office compound is very big, dormitory and mess for interns is in the campus itself.

Main tasks

As RLEK is an NGO we were involved in lots of activities like rally, surveys, field trips, lectures etc.

The main task was to go on field trips to primary schools of RLEK and interact with the children and people in village and to do research work and survey and make report and presentation on it.

We also contributed in other ongoing initiatives and projects of RLEK.

Work environment and people

The work environment is very friendly and the staff is very helping and understanding. We were free to ask any of our query anytime.

Best things

It was an Internship cum adventurous trip. During my internship I went to primary school of Miyani village, which is about 70 km from Dehradun in Shivalik range and Sahastradhara for a survey and visited almost every tourist spot of Dehradun with my co interns.

Bad things

Sometimes there is no work and the interns sit idle.

Biggest Lessons

One should stay happy and satisfied with whatever he or she has. I learned from the rural people I met.

Any Other Thing

RLEK works for child and adult education, women empowerment, rights of tribal, environment protection etc so, it is a place where one will not only learn about the working of a NGO but can also understand the present situation and problems of various people and can make efforts to help them.
