Internship Experience @ National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi
Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
National Human Rights Commission, Delhi
Duration of internship and timings
1-15 August 2015, 10AM – 4 PM.
First impression, First day formalities, Infrastructure
First day all the interns were made to sit in seminar room and our documents were verified and later we were given guest lectures about the functioning of the commission.
We were asked to fill a registration form along with Letter Of Recommendation from the College. We were treated very nicely and the conference room was a big one fully air conditioned
Accommodation:
I stayed in a PG near NHRC. One can find many PGs near NHRC which are available at a cheap rate. So getting accommodation is a layman’s job.
Main tasks
Regularly we were told about the functioning of NHRC from various officers of the Commission.
We visited many NGOs and Police Stations and were explained their functioning. In starting itself we were divided into several groups and assigned to work on a group project.
Main task which were assigned to us was to read various complaints filed by peoples from all over the country and then to make a report of each and every case every day. We had to choose closed files, whose judgment had been given.
Work Environment, People
Work environment was friendly and people around work not so interactive as most of them were assigned time bound tasks.
Best things?
Practical experience of visiting: Jail, Police Stations and NGOs and Very interactive and informative sessions with many dignities.
Bad things ?
Not much of real legal work. Good for initial years at law school, not so good for tail enders.
Stipend

Biggest Lessons
