MS Narayana and Associates
Application Process with contact details
I called up their office and inquired for an internship availability. Within a week, I received my acceptance mail. An e-mail too can be sent out to them.
Duration of internship and timings
I interned in the month of November, 2015 for four weeks.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
My first day was a good one. I met with Mr Narayana himself who introduced me to his colleagues. He spoke to me about the nature of work transacted by them.
The office was a small but spacious one. It had a few computers spread around and both interns as well as the employees worked side-by-side.
I was given cases to peruse. When I displayed an interest towards family law, the assistants began to give me family cases to look at.
On a few days, I visited the civil court and the associate gave me an overview of its working.
Work environment and people
The work environment is professional. People adhered to the timings strictly and worked quite diligently. They were also very friendly and approachable. They constantly asked me to talk to them in case of any issues.
I loved the way the associates and employees took me in. They would buy me lunch sometimes and even write down certain legal issues that they thought would help me. They took an active interest in ensuring that I was comfortable.
They’d ask me what I thought of cases and present their views on the same.
Since I was in my first year, there wasn’t much to do. I didn’t feel like I had contributed much. My understanding of law was limited and a lot of times, I’d sit empty-handed, waiting for the clock to tick by.
I learnt a few basic intricacies of law through this internship. Visits to the court was an added benefit.
The office is located in High Point building, Palace road, near Chalukya Hotel. I traveled from home but there are no dearth of PG’s in the locality. Centrally located, one can find a lot that there’s a lot to do during free time.
The timings for me were very relaxed. But perhaps that is because I was only in the first year and didn’t have rigorous work or time schedules to adhere to. There was no system of attendance.
I’d maintain punctuality by reaching office by 10:30 and leaving by 5 in the evening.
