Internship Experience

I applied for this internship in December, 2017. I got to know about the program through a pop-up advertisement on the official website of the Ministry. The form can be filled online and if your application is selected, you will have a revert back.

The duration of my Internship was from 19th of December, 2017 to 18th of January, 2018. After filling the form I got a revert back from the organization regarding my joining to which I acknowledged the same day.

The working atmosphere of the Ministry was very comfortable. I got to learn a lot about the working of the government and the various schemes and programs facilitated by the ministry.

There you need not have to worry about the food as there are two cafeterias in the premises which provides food at affordable prices. Even the staff is also very friendly and there are no hard and fast rules regarding the timings.

First day formalities

I was supposed to report on 2:30 PM at the Statistical Department of the Ministry which is located at the Jeevan Vihar Building, Parliament Street, New Delhi. There I reported to Mr. D.K. Tiwari who is the coordinator for the Internship Scheme. There were five more people apart from me there for the internship.

He cross checked and verified my documents and placed me under Mr. Chetan B, Sanghi, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Women and Child. After assigning me my undertaking I was given the gate pass for the next day to Shastri Bhawan where I was supposed to report at 10 A.M.

Then the coordinator took us to Ms. Ratna Anjan Jena, Statistical Adviser (Plan, Monitoring & Statistics, Parliament Matters) and we all had an ice-breaking session followed by tea and coffee.

Assigned Tasks

  • Sorting and making briefs of the nominations for Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018.
  • Assessment of the NARI Portal.
  • Organized workshop on Role of Marriage Registration Officers.
  • Helped in drafting data and organizing files for the Selection Committee of Nari Shakti Puraskar 2018.

Work ambience

The atmosphere of the ministry is pretty satisfying. There was not a single day when I saw any of the consultant or official sitting idle. The place had a kind of environment which boosted a person’s ability to work.

The staff was very friendly and welcoming. I was assigned to assist one of the consultant to the organization. The institution was lenient about the timings and there was also no such work load.

After the completion of the internship we were asked to submit a report about the work which we undertook during our office tenure. After submitting the report we were given a certificate and and appreciation letter by the Ministry.

Stipend: Rs. 5000
