Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength

Directorate of Public Prosecutor, District Court, Gurgaon, Team of 8

Application Process

Our internship was placed by our college itself.

This time also we had to work under Directorate of Public Prosecutor, Haryana.

Thereafter, he appointed public prosecutor to all of us.

I don’t think any other way to apply for this.

Duration of internship and timings

The duration was for 1 month only i.e. December 2012- January 2013.

First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure

We first went to the authority incharge in the District court i.e. Deputy Public Prosecutor because the directorate was in Chandigarh.

He appointed each of us to public prosecutors in different courts.

Main tasks

Our work was to assist the public prosecutors but as it was our 2nd semester, we didn’t knew much about the Cr.PC., and district court was all about procedure.

So, the Public Prosecutor (PP) make us sit in the court itself and gave us files to read and after the proceedings we used to give the description about the case and later on PP used to tell us the relevant provisions and share his experience.

Work environment and people

The environment as in the litigation was very good but the condition of courts was very poor.

We used to talk to the sitting judge and take the advices when he/she was free.

As such there was no people in staff it was just the PP and me.

The working was court was pretty good, I got to know the practical working of laws in the court for the first time.

So, the exposure was really good.

Best things

The best thing I found there is sharing of PP experience because he was a senior PP and sometime Judge used to ask the PP, what can be done in some situations.

Bad things

There was little mismanagement in the court.

No Stipend.

Biggest Lessons

I learnt the practical working of the courts and the most important is the experience of the PP.
