Duration of internship and timings
2 months (May-June) Flexible timings but usually it is from 11.00 am to 8.00 pm. Working on Saturday is optional.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
It is a residence cum office. The office has a small library in it. As she is a sole practitioner, you will find only interns and clients in the office. There were no major formalities. I was immediately asked to work on a particular matter.
Researching on law points depending on the case, reading case files, making brief notes, drafting bail applications, attending court proceedings, client meetings and jail visits are some of the main task at ABC.
You cannot be seen sitting idle. It depends how much work you are willing to do.
Work environment and people
One cannot get a better working environment than this. She is always ready to help and explain wherever you get stuck.
Everyone’s comfort is taken into account. It’s pretty much fine with a pair of jeans and chappals. It’s very friendly and cooperative environment.
I got to learn how to draft a PIL.
She also helped me in planning my next internships and suggested me few. She also shared her experiences at Oxford and inspired me by narrating stories.
The idea of working in an office without getting the feel of strict office was the best part. It brings out the best in you. Also, the best thing is that you get treated every evening with good food and juices.
The only issue is that there is no place to chill out. Harda being a small district have no eating joints, bars or cafes.
“Everything you are doing requires perfection.”
Interning in a district court and (High Court) teaches you the most. It is not about the size of the office but rather the lessons you learn.
The experience is so enriching that you wouldn’t mind not being paid.
Any Other Thing
If someone likes to travel and wants to explore Madhya Pradesh then this internship is highly recommended as you get to travel to all the cities regarding matters in other district courts and High Court.
