First impression, first day, formalities

On first day I was asked to report at the Delhi High Court, where I was asked to observe court proceedings and note down what happened in a particular court proceeding.

First day in High Court was really memorable. I followed him to the court rooms carrying his files.

After the court proceedings interns were required to report at the office for reading files of the cases which were listed next day. There were no formalities as such as everyone knows who will be joining as intern at the beginning of month.

Main tasks

Mr. Chauhan asked me to make rejoinder, applications, notice, and letters. Plenty of drafting work was assigned with research work.

Mr. Chauhan emphasized on quality work. Efforts by the interns were acknowledged by him. There were variety of topics to be researched as there were both criminal as well as civil matters.

Work environment, people

Work environment was friendly. Interns were expected to work and not sit idle. Mr. Chauhan used to ask interns about what work they were assigned and it’s progress. All the associates were friendly.

The best things

Plenty of drafting work. Personally I wanted to learn drafting. I dint want to sit and research in Manupatra or SCC in the whole internship.

Lunch-cum-GDs was the best part. Interns were allowed to have lunch with Mr. Chauhan.

The bad things: None as per my personal experience.

Accommodation etc. What did you to do chill in and around the office and the place of stay?

One can get PG at very reasonable rate in Mukherjee Nagar only. You can order food from many food joints as DU is nearby. We often used to order from Sagar Ratna. Don’t miss special lassi!
