Chambers of Advocate Sudhir Sahai, Civil Court, Ara, Bihar
This internship was my one month compulsory training program given by my college. For the application of this firstly I prepared my CV including all the important documents required for that and attached it with my application form received from my college for this internship and send it to the advocate of Ara civil court. After an small interview he selected me as his intern.
The advocate under who’s supervision I did my internship was Dr. Sudhir Sahai, Advocate of Ara civil court.
Duration of internship and timings
10th June, 2015 – 10th July, 2015
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On my first day of internship, day started with small introduction of every candidates and when my advocate got to know that I am from Banaras Hindu University, he started asking me some questions to test my knowledge.
First day was very hectic as it was new place to me and it was new experience.
Firstly I had to fill the form received from my college and get it signed from my advocate and other formalities too.
Infrastructure of the court was good, it was an old building with lots of people running here and there for there work.
Main task in my internship was like observance of judicial proceedings and to maintain the record of it and also to observe interviewing techniques and prepare documents. Also the procedure for filling of the suit or petition and record the same.
Work environment and people
Environment of that place was good, there were many advocates, judges in there chambers and lots of people around. People were running for there work to be done and it was very busy place.
Best thing I learned from my internship was that what we study in our classes and through books was actually in use there. I got experience of the proceeding in the court room and got opportunity to talk to witnesses and other persons of parties.
Bad thing was that our judicial system is still not 100% fair towards the persons because advocates and judges use to take bribes from the richer party and give its decision in there favour.
No stipend was provided under this internship program.
Biggest lesson from my internship was that theoretical knowledge is different from practical knowledge, what we study in class room and through book is not exactly applied.
