Kindly mention the office you want to work at – Hariani & Co. have offices at Mumbai , Pune and Goa!

Duration in weeks. Days of work per week. Timings.

I worked at the Mumbai Office for a period of 6 months. The Office is working 5 days a week and on alternate Saturdays.

The timings of the Office are roughly 10 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

However, timings will have to be adjusted in case of urgent work or huge responsibilities for the next day.

First impression, first day, formalities

I was astonished as soon as I entered the office the first time. Besides being extremely organised and clean, the office is very well made and the ambience will get you lost at times. The interns have a separate section with everything in the vicinity.

The Office also boasts an outstanding cafeteria with a TV and a CARROM BOARD ! It is the best stress buster or a way to interact and meet with the colleagues as everyone including the partners and stenos play carrom together – only in free time though.

The Office strength would be approximately 75-85 including the support staff. However, don’t be intimidated, you will know everyone in 2 days. They come and introduce themselves to you on the first day. There are 11 Paralegals/Interns which include Articled Clerks who intend to appear for the Solicitor’s Exam.

The Office formalities are normal and expected – the formal dress code has to be followed (black and white for litigation teams) however it is relaxed on Saturdays and you can wear jeans and semi formals.

Main tasks

Being in the litigation team, the most important experience you can get is drafting and attending proceedings at various tribunals. The Litigation team I worked in had more than 5 matters a day at different tribunals, predominantly the High Court.

Besides assisting in drafting notices, letters and synopsis, I also got an exemplary chance to assist in the drafting of Petitions, Suits, Ad-Interim Applications etc.

The Real Estate Team had Huge amounts of Work and several transactions to be completed every hour. Hariani is very well known for its Real Estate Practice. As as intern, you get a chance to draft, summarise, inspect and modify agreements. Besides there’s always due diligence!

Work environment, people

The Work environment at Hariani is so motivated and friendly, that I’d actually consider staying at office than meeting friends for a movie. The cafeteria, reception , conference rooms and library provides a perfect balance of work and relaxation .

The Cafeteria staff and the receptionist are well versed with the entire functioning of the office and the needs of interns. The seniors I had were not only motivated , polite and friendly but also extremely understanding of the tasks allotted to me and always understood if I could not do anything.

Ended up being really good friends with some of them and still meet them regularly.

The best things AND the bad things

Everything is awesome except the clerical work at times- which can be boring. It comes with every internship though. However, I strongly advise to take up the internship right away if get a chance or offered the same and not to think twice. The Firm and the people provide the best experience you can possibly get.

Only after the 3rd month – Rs.8000/-

Accommodation etc. What did you to do chill in and around the office and the place of stay?

There is so much to eat at office , always . Besides places like Starbucks, Bade Miya , Coffee House are one minute walk from office. There are tons of places you can order from and some local places with delicious food which can be ordered to office. The Cafeteria is the perfect place to chill.
