Duration of internship and timings
1st July – 30th July
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
We were handed over an internship plan, which stipulated tasks to be done weekly, accordingly;
Week 1: To read case files given by the assigned associate, make notes on the same.
Week 2; To attend the proceedings of the case that we have read and researched on
Week 3:We had to make case summaries on some important cases.
Week 4: We had to reformulate the grounds of a disposed- off matter
Initially, we were very skeptical regarding the plan, but eventually we realized that it was very productive and beneficial for us.
Mainly, we had to follow the internship plan, but there was a lot of research work and some other clerical work to do for the associates.
I had a wide variety of research topics ranging from the jurisdiction of the NGT till the Takeover Regulations.
Court visits were the best part and fortunately, I got a chance to visit the apex court and see Mr. Kapil Sibal arguing a case which I had researched on. I even saw other some interns taking his autograph 🙂 which inspired the litigator inside me.
Work environment and people
People are very humble at the firm and were very approachable, they gave us tasks which were feasible and beneficial for us, we were also given tips regarding how to survive at Law school and how to make the most of it.
Coffee machine, flexibility of timings 🙂 and most of all visiting the SC and seeing the top lawyers arguing. Also, the work environment at the office was amazing.
Nothing bad can be pointed out, every experience is a good one and this was one of them.
Being in my penultimate year, I got a look of the environment and the functioning of a law firm. Court visits inspired and enthrall the newbies, including me.
Most of all, I learned how ton interact with the people working at a law firm and to get used to the very competitive environment in a firm.
Research tasks brushed up my skills and inculcated a lot of knowledge.
Never say no to any work assigned to you unless you are pre-occupied, always give it a try and seek for clarifications from the associates. After doing the task, also seek suggestions from associates.
Any Other Thing
Go for it and visit the Nathus Bakery which is in Bangali market. Amazing stuff.
My parents are settled in Delhi, so accommodation was not a problem.
10 am – 6 pm, there was flexibility regarding the time and we had the option of leaving early, except on the days we had work assigned to us.
