High Court of Andhra Pradesh
I had applied via email to Advocate Sri Mohan Reddy.
My Dad was posted in Secunderabad, so it was convenient for me to intern in the Andhra Pradesh High Court at Hyderabad. He accepted my application and took me as an intern for a month.
I was basically interning under Advocate Mohan Reddy, but his son Mr. Sumon Reddy also made me do a lot of research work.
I lost Advocate Mohan Reddy’s contact no. but I have Sumon sir’s contact no. : +91 9849211825.
Duration of internship and timings
The duration of the internship was from 15th November 2014-15th December 2014.
I used to go to their office at 9 a.m. and from there we used to go to the High Court. At about 4-5, depending upon the hearing of cases, we used to get done with the High Court and proceed towards the office.
I used to get done with the day at around 7 p.m.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
My first impression was that I was extremely intimidated by Sir. The first time I went to his office, he made me feel very comfortable and we discussed some current affairs.
As far as the Andhra Pradesh High Court is concerned, the building is magnificent made up of red and white stones. It looks royal from the outside and is extremely well designed on the inside.
The building is quite old and one can make that out once you enter the building. The High Court is situated in the old part of the Hyderabad city, on the banks of River Musi.
I had an opportunity to intern under the very known and established lawyer C.V. Mohan Reddy.
I was made to work on various legal concepts, inter alia Muslim Law, Family law and Constitutional law.
Luckily my boss was extremely cooperative and I was also given a substantial amount of research work pertaining to civil case laws and had the opportunity to witness the everyday Court arguments and proceedings.
I was often made to sit in the Court of the Chief Justice of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.
This internship gave me an insight about the process of litigation and the intricacies of the same.
My knowledge of studying case laws and summarizing the same has increased exceptionally, as a result of this internship. It helped me so much in my college assignments and in understanding case laws under different subject matters.
I was made to do research work and study cases for the next day in the office after attending the hearings in the High Court.
The High Court is surrounded by lots of small places to eat, especially the biryani in that area is way too yummy in the tummy.
That place is a photographer’s paradise as it depicts the old city of Hyderabad with its old buildings and a vast variety of small streets filled with people.
Work environment and people
As I mentioned earlier, I was lucky enough to work as an intern under Advocate Mohan Reddy as he is extremely helpful and cooperating. He will take care of your doubts and will lead you when you are absolutely clueless which is quite often.
He used to treat me like his staff and make me sit down in his office and go through his important reading materials, which is a huge thing for an intern.
I had a brilliant experience and every experience adds to your personality. I learnt a lot and that is what counts at the end of the day.
The trick is to apply your experiences to situations and get the best out of them.
