Details of the Office

The office is located at D-327, Basement, Defence Colony, New Delhi. It is a well-furnished office with reception area and workstations for employees.

The office has a good library which is used quite often by the staff and interns for their research. There is a separate storage room for files.

The location of the office is very close to Lajpat Nagar Metro Station and hence travelling is not much of a problem. If you want to stay nearby office then you can find various PGs at Lajpat Nagar.

First impression and first day formalities

The first impression was very good. There aren’t many first day formalities.

You can expect to be interviewed by ma’am and be prepared to have the work assigned to you in the first meeting itself.

Main Tasks

The main tasks were to research on arbitration and contract law. I also researched on consumer protection matters pertaining to the areas of medical negligence and real estate.

Interns are expected to go through the files thoroughly and prepare list of events. Apart from this, I assisted ma’am in drafting of petitions and replies.

There were regular visits to the High Court of Delhi, National Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum and other venues where arbitrations were conducted.

Apart from this, I also had an opportunity to closely observe the filing of documents in Courts.

Best Things

The best part of this internship is that you are involved in the work from day one and are expected to behave as an associate.

You are supposed to attend every arbitration proceedings or court proceeding with respect to the file on which you worked. Hence, from research and drafting of petitions to their filing and disposal I could experience it all.

My area of interest is in arbitration and thus this internship benefitted me immensely. Several matters in this office are with respect to resolution of dispute arising out of building and engineering contracts and they helped me learn a lot in this area.

So, if you are interested in commercial litigation and arbitration, this is a very good place to learn.

Bad Things

There aren’t any. Just be prepared to take the constructive criticism of ma’am.

As mentioned earlier you are expected to behave as an associate so lack of sincerity will not be appreciated here.

Work Environment

You’ll find a very comfortable work environment.

The associates and ma’am are very supportive.

The best part is that everyone in the office sit together to have their lunch and many things, apart from work, are discussed then.

Stipend

I received a stipend of Rs 7,500 per month.
