Name of the organization. City
Geeta Luthra, New Delhi
Duration of the internship. No. of days/week. Timings
3 weeks in October.
We were required to report to the Supreme Court/High Court or whichever Trial Court was assigned to us the previous day at 930am.
As for leaving, it varied from person to person. If an intern wants they can stay upto 2-3 in the night. But since I lived quite far, I was asked to leave by 8, maximum 9.
How big was the office? Team strength?
The office isn’t very big. It’s the basement at her place. Geeta Luthra has about 10-15 associates working under her.
Application procedure. Internship contact details
I applied by sending in my CV at this ID: firstname.lastname@example.org
Accommodation: how, where, how was it?
I stay in Delhi so I stayed at home. However, finding a PG around that area shouldn’t be difficult.
First impression. First day, formalities etc.
I was asked to report to the High Court the first day. There I followed the associates around and watched ma’am argue. Then later I was taken to the office where I was given some research work.
Mainly, you will be going to Court in the morning and later in the evening you will be going to East of Kailash to her office.
Main work given to the interns is research work (finding case laws mostly), drafting rejoinders along with clerical work like making indices and marking page numbers. If you want you can get a lot of work. It depends on how much work you can do and are willing to do. You cannot be seen sitting idle.
The associates at Geeta Luthra’s Chambers catch you and give you some work. But don’t get disheartened. Everyone is extremely nice and ever ready to help. They will explain you what to do a hundred times if need be.
Work environment, people
It was very busy when I interned. We almost had 7-8 cases that had to be prepared for the next day. The associates rarely leave the office before 12 am. In fact sometimes they stay up to 3 in the night!
I got to learn how to draft rejoinders. I have to almost every court in Delhi, right from the Supreme Court to the CAT tribunal.
Also, you get 2000 bucks for a month and 1500 for 3 weeks.
Sometimes it can get very boring in the Courts.
70% of the cases used to get adjourned to other dates due to some or the other reason and running from Court room to the other can get very annoying.
What did you do to chill? Co-interns, colleagues
The associates at the Chambers of Geeta Luthra are very chilled out. We would all sit and have lunch together at the High Court canteen and share anecdotes.
2000 for a month and 1500 for 3 weeks.
