Minority Rights Group International (MRG) is offering a fellowship with its 2016-2017 Legal Cases Programme, focusing on strategic litigation on minority rights and indigenous issues.
The fellowship will last for a period of 12 months, subject to renewal.
MRG is litigating cases before the European Court of Human Rights, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, the African Committee of Experts on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, as well as the UN Human Rights Committee and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.
The Fellow will be responsible for undertaking research on international law related to minority rights, as well as assisting with ongoing cases.
MRG is not able to fund the fellowship, however there is some funding available for travel expenses for the purpose of collecting evidence and representing the local communities at an international level.
The Fellowship is open to law graduates with strong research skills, a good understanding of electronic legal databases and experience conducting human rights research in the field.
Knowledge of a second or a third language other than English is desirable.
