DSNLU Vishakhapatnam has announced the placement results for its 1st graduating batch.

Here are the numbers:

  • Total students: 102
  • Students opting for placements: 47
  • Total job offers made: 42
  • Total accepted job offers: Unknown

Editor’s comment: It’s surprising that out of 102 students only 47 sat for placements! It’s usual and expected from colleges to give various excuses for this: that the students are opting for LLMs, judiciary exams and litigation.

If real, this would be a great sign! However, this is usually done to inflate placement numbers. This is true for most colleges in India, including colleges outside the law domain.

Here are the organisations from where students have secured job offers.

Note: Job offers are different from ‘accepted’ job offers.

Organisation No. of offers
Mindcrest Inc, Pune (LPO) 17
Quislex, Hyderabad (LPO) 7
LexQual Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore (LPO) 7
King & Partridge, Bangalore 3 (+2 waitlisted)
Masilamani Law Partners, Noida 2 (+1 subject to assessment
Biswajit Sarkar – Advocates I.P. Attorneys, Kolkata 2
Thomson Reuters Legal Managed Services (LPO) 2 (subject to assessment internship)
Jus Sahaya Associates, Chennai 1

Editor’s comment: Out of 42 job offers, 33 are from LPOs. This is not a good sign.

Starting off your career at an LPO makes it difficult to shift to roles in companies or law firms later on in your career. At the same time, a proactive individual can find managerial roles in LPOs pretty quickly.

Mindcrest Pune and Quislex Hyderabad’s salary package ranges from Rs. 25,000-30,000/month.

None of the offers are from top law firms or companies. While we understand that it’s not the sole yardstick for measuring the quality of a law school, NLU Ranchi saw 2 students placed at Khaitan, 1 at Luthra, 2 at Wipro and 3 and L & T Finance.

  1. Well, that opinion at the end of the article…please be careful with what you write and how you frame or articulate it is been read and it does influences, demotivates a lot of people out there ..it’s not expected of a top notch pass out law school student.

      • You will compare the very first Placement Stats of one University with those of another University which has published them for the Third time AFAIK.

You will question the Genuine number of Students who opted for placements even after the Placement Brochure of the said batch is there in public domain, and confirms the Number of Registrants for Placements as stated by the University.

And then you will boast of impartial and non- prejudicial reportage on such an important platform.

        Hats Off!

  2. For all talks about free speech and liberty, you need to start quitting your practice of censoring comments where you are proved wrong.

  3. Can Lawctopus please confirm this TOI report saying Cornell is offering a joint BALLB degree with Bennett University in India?

  4. Tanuj, it is very normal for new law schools to have a large number of people opt for competitive exams and litigation in lower courts. In my batch 60 out of 120 opted for placements and even out of the 60, around 30 never applied to any firm because they were in it because they just did not want to lose out on any opportunity. At the same time, a lot of students had two or more offers though their own initiative and campus placement. A couple of them got three too.

  5. this happens when students get question papers from their professors and when University recruits pathetic teachers.

    • You choose to state that the University indulges in malpractice and is essentially committing fraud by leaking the Question Papers beforehand to the students. You’ve got proofs for this? You understand that the University might take you up for Defamation?

Mods, please take note and try not to publish baseless comments that cause damage to the perception about a Statutory Body.

    • Well, I hope we do get question papers beforehand. Let me tell you about an incident where a student had her paper cancelled because she wrote a few numbers which happened to be someone’s phone number. Further, we have a proactive examination cell, which ensures that we never get to have a cue of the questions. There is a stringent procedure for the same and at times even the faculty is unaware of the questions which may come after submitting their sets to the cell.
