Name of Organisation, Location, Team Strength
Mr. M.P. Singh, Advocate, Patiala House Court, Delhi
He is a criminal advocate and practices in District Courts of Delhi. He has his own chamber in Patiala House Court, New Delhi.
I got internship through one of my contacts. So I don’t know the exact application process. But here are his contact details and you can easily contact him.
Office Address: 363 Lawyers’ Chambers, Patiala House Court, New Delhi-110001
Phone: 01123388032, Mobile: +91 9868110817
Duration of internship and timings
I did internship under him for 3 weeks. You can even apply for more than that also.
Regarding timings there is no specific timing of office. Sometimes I used to reach directly at his office at Patiala House Court and sometimes I used to reach at another court where he used to had a case. So there is no rigidity regarding timings. But it was roughly form 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
First impression, first day formalities, infrastructure
On first day of my internship, he called me at the court of Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Tis Hazari Court, Delhi. When I reached there so I asked someone that who is Mr. M.P. Singh.
So that guy replied that when he’ll come you will automatically know that who is he. And actually when he came there was hustle in the court that he has come. So I got to know that he is very experienced and popular District Court Criminal Lawyer.
There is no first day formality. You can easily start working with him.
Regarding infrastructure at his residence in Mayur Vihar, he has very big Library and there you can read any book you want. So infrastructure was descent.
The main task was to go with him in different proceedings at different district courts of Delhi and observe the proceedings because at the end of the day he used to ask what you learnt and observed.
Sometimes he used to give you the task of filing of forms and summarizing the facts of a particular case and giving brief to him.
Work environment and people
If I talk about the people, then all the junior advocates working under him were very friendly and helping in nature but I did not like the working environment too much because there was no element of regularity in the work.
The best thing was working with such a famous criminal lawyer and because of ample work you get the opportunity to witness end number of proceedings throughout your internship period which really gives you the opportunity to learn the practical procedure of filing a case in the court.
The bad thing was that there was no specific arrangements for interns to work for.
For eg. work desks, no specific task, no reporting. So there was no element of accountability and responsibility. Beyond a point sir does not involve interns in a particular case.
You should have an art to extract the things from your advocate’s knowledge and experience otherwise you’ll not be able to learn any thing.
You should have curiosity to lean and relearn.
Any Other Thing
Sir is very nice in nature and will answer your queries as well.
