The Centre for Innovation, Intellectual Property and Competition (CIIPC) at the National Law University Delhi was established with an aim to support academic and policy oriented dialogues in the areas of innovation, IP and competition. CIIPC focus on interdisciplinary legal research in the areas of innovation, IP and competition, particularly using the law and economics approach.
CIIPC is inviting applications for an internship programme on its ‘Intellectual Property and Startups’ project. The selected candidates will work as interns in research project from their respective locations across the country. The candidates are expected to serve as field investigators to support an ongoing national level survey among Indian startups.
The applicant should be enrolled in (or has completed) a recognized undergraduate or post-graduate program in social science (including law, economics, and management) or engineering.
The candidate should be enthusiastic, willing to locally travel for field work, and should possess good conversational skills in English/regional language so as to quickly connect and interact with startup entrepreneurs.
The candidate should be a resident/student in any of the tier 1, 2, and 3 cities in India and will work from their respective locations. Priority will be given to startup aspirants.
The candidate is expected to interact with selected startup entrepreneurs/senior staff members and persuade/ guide them to take a survey. The centre will put in place a mechanism to monitor and ensure quality of the survey and actual field working being conducted by the intern. Prior to initiating the field work, the centre will be conducting an orientation for the selected interns.
The internship shall be for a minimum period of 4 to 6 weeks and each candidate is expected to report every day to the Research Fellow who is coordinating this project.
Selected candidates will receive a stipend between Rs. 4000 and Rs. 12000 per month, depending on their dedication and performance. This stipend is intended to cover the necessary expenses that may facilitate smooth administration of the survey.
The candidate’s dedication and performance will be evaluated not just through the number of surveys completed, but also the quality of survey data. If the candidates complete the minimum requirement for the survey, the minimum stipend will be given by the second week. All other payments will made only after the successful completion of survey.
The deadline for the first round of application is March 26th, 2018.
However, applications made after this deadline may be considered on a rolling basis as and when the need arises.
The subject of the email should be “Application for internship_ (City Name)”, and should be addressed to Co-Directors, CIIPC, NLU Delhi.
The application should be enclosed with Curriculum Vitae and Statement of Purpose of not more than two sentences on each of the following four points
- Why you are interested in this internship
- What benefits you expect to derive from this internship,
- The city you are willing work,
- Your experience/knowledge on the specific city’s geography, language and networks if any.
