I did not get to avail chances for searching PG’s, because I stayed at my friends house in Durg, I used to travel all the way from Durg to Raipur, the means of transportation I prefered to travel was on train.
I boarded the local train which departs at 9:20 from Durg station and arrives at Raipur Junction at 10:20. For those students who are not a resident of the state, the city of Raipur has many PG to accomodate students.
There are many hotels nearby if you feel the need of it and want to chill out with friends, but I personally did not go to any hotels as I carried lunch box with me from my friend home.
First Impression, First Day, Formalities
The office hours starts from 10 unlike any governmenet organisation, so I reached before 10.
The very first day, I was being introduced to the whole of the system, its working procedures and functions by the joint secretary of the Commission and after interacting with him, I was directed to meet the law officer, he guided me with all the rules that is being followed and implemented by the legal department.
Working Procedure of the Commission
The commission works in a very synchronized way and they have beautiful set up of its delegates/members headed by the Chairperson: Hon’ble Justice Rajeev Gupta; Members: Shri YKS Thakur, Shri RK Behar, Joint Secretary: Shri Dilip Bhatt, Law Officer: Shri Harish Chandra Misra, Deputy Secretary: Shri GS Verma and Accounts Officer: Shri bJP Tiwari.
The human rights commission deals with every violation matter, so people when submit an application, that application is registered and then classified as to which department this application belongs to and how the investigation of a matter takes place.
Main Tasks
After ascertaining with the family tree, I was introduced to the different complaints/cases cognizable by the commission, to which the commission can implement action. It was indeed a great experience getting to learn about the cases and to prepare report based on it.
During these tenure, I got the opportunity to come across many new concepts, legal terms, final judgement by the commission over the cases based on different situation and what should be the strategies one should opt if the basic human rights are violated.
Friendly Environment
The people working in the Commission maintains a friendly and interactive environment to one and all.
I was rendered enough help from all the honourable dignitaries, whenever I had any doubts or whenever I found any difficulty with the cases, they were always ever ready to help out by making things cracked, which helped me out to learn out the legal mythology and raised my thinking level to an extended horizon.
Conclusion
Overall as a law student and a citizen of India one should know the basic rights imposed on them and violation of such rights is an offensive act. So, by interning in this commission it was really fruitful getting to know all the procedures and actions to be implemented if basic fundamental rights goes out of hand.
As a law student, we can fight and give justice to the people whose rights being snatched away by some unscrupulous people prevailing in our society, and hence can render punishment to them and can hope to bring some quality changes in our country.
