Duration of Internship
1st June, 2017 – 30th June, 2017
5 days a week. Monday – Friday.
The official working hours are 10 am to 7 pm, however work pressure is such that one might have to stay back a little late for completing the allotted work.
I remember staying back along with a couple of my co-interns late until 11 pm on a few occasions.
About the Firm
The firm is an outcome of the merger between the laws firms – TMT Law Practice and DPSA Legal. The Managing Partner of the Firm is Mr. Abhishek Malhotra.
The Senior Partner is Mr. DP Singh and the Partners are Mr. Kaushik Moitra and Ms. Sonam Gupta. The firm has two offices, one in Delhi and the other in Mumbai.
I interned at the Delhi office situated near Nehru Place Metro Station.
The work environment is pretty impressive. Interns work at the intern room situated on the ground floor of the office.
The associates are very friendly, however one is expected to meet the strict deadlines set by them and the partners.
I had the opportunity to work under both the Partners – Mr. Kaushik Moitra and Ms. Sonam Gupta.
Both of them, would provide you with a variety of work, and one can definitely learn a lot from the work allotted by them.
However, meeting deadlines with quality work is the top priority especially when work is allotted by them.
The library of the firm is also pretty fascinating, and one can access them for research if needed. Access to legal search engines like SCC Online are also available for enhanced work output.
Work environment however is also largely dependent upon the co-interns. I was fortunate to have amazing and extremely helpful co-interns.
Research on Real Estate Regulation & Development Act, 2016
Briefing State Real Estate Regulation & Development Rules and subsequent comparison with the Central Act.
Research on Confidentiality, Breach of Confidence, Trade Secrets etc. with reference to Intellectual Property Laws.
Drafting Memorandum of Understanding between parties.
Research on “Revenue Rasta” and subsequent provisions relating to it under the HUDA Act.
Research on “Dying Declaration” – Section 32(1) of the Indian Evidence Act.
The firm is very well located, therefore transportation should not be an issue at all.
One can also order lunch and snacks online at their convenience and have the same, within the stipulated time allotted for break.
Both the Litigation and the IPR Department of the firm are good, however, if one has to chose between the two, it has to be the IPR Department because one can actually get access to working on really high profile cases, given the name “TMT Law Practice” is and has been.
The best part is, one can work on both IPR and litigation as per one’s interest and available work.
In fact, if research and work are done properly, the inputs of the interns are actually taken into priority consideration even on delicate matters.
