2nd National Seminar on Law & Media: Contemporary Issues & challenges


The Institute of Law, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra is pleased to announce the National Seminar consecutively for the second year.


11th February, 2016

Invitation of Participation

The institute invites participation of academicians and research scholars from law & social sciences, media & visual studies; law and media practitioners, legal & media theorists.


Interested participants are expected to submit within the contours of the following sub themes in light of the relevant legal provisions:

Legal Ethics and Media

The Role of Corporate Media in the Largest —Democracy of the World: An Appraisal

Media Trials : Pros and Cons

The Freedom of Speech and Expression Versus Sting Operation

Regulation of Media in India: In Search of a Viable Regulatory Mechanism

Law and the Investigative Journalism

The Constitution of India and Social Media

The Role of Media in Crime Prevention

‘The Role of Media in Spreading Legal Awareness

Defamation and Media

Freedom of Press vis-a vis Right to Privacy

Law and Pornography

Evidence Law and Media

Any other related theme

Call for Papers

Research papers are invited from the participants on any of the above-mentioned themes.

The paper should be well researched with proper citations and references.

It should be on A4 size paper in Times New Roman font, font size 12 with 1.5 line spacing (Kurti Dev or Mangal 15 font size with double spacing for Hindi- medium participants).

The word limit for research paper is 3000 words.

Before sending the research paper the participants have to submit an abstract of the paper in around 250 words as e-mail attachment to: and

The abstract should have the name, designation, e-mail and workplace address of the participant.

The soft copy of both the abstract and research paper should be submitted.

The papers selected by the Review Committee shall be allowed for paper presentation.

Important Deadlines

The Last Date for Abstract Submission is 14th January, 2016.

The Acceptance of the Abstract to be communicated by 20th January, 2016.

The Last Date for Research Paper Submission is 31st January, 2016 .

Registration Fees

Delegates from Outside: INR 700

Delegates from KUK Campus: INR 500

Research Scholars: INR.500

There shall be on-the-spot registration on the seminar day.


No TA/DA shall be paid to the participants by the host institution.
