The first day I reported to Ms. Arti Singh Ma’am. She inquired about my previous internships and assigned me with drafting work. Later Mr. Suraj Singh Sir acquainted me with the policies, rules and working style of the firm.
I was asked to make an entry in the Register for Interns, in which you have to sign everyday as soon as you come and while your leaving for the day.
Office Strength and Staff
The office consists of 3 Associates – Ms. Arti Singh, Ms. Pooja Singh, Mr. Suraj Singh and one staff Mr. Anand. There were around 6-7 co-interns during my internship period.
Work environment, people
They are very serious and professional about their work. Discipline and punctuality is highly valued. If you are not able to make it to the office on some day, you are required to give them prior notice about it, either call them or email them about it.
You are assigned work by either Arti Ma’am or Pooja Ma’am and are expected to periodically report regarding the same. Anything regarding the work is always welcomed. They are always ready to help you with anything regarding the task you are assigned.
Then, there is always Anand Bhaiya who can approached regarding anything in the office and you will always be to guided with a smile.
My main tasks were related to drafting. I was given the opportunity to draft Legal Notices, Counter Affidavits, Rejoinders and Memos in Civil Suits and Consumer Disputes.
Apart from drafting, I also got the opportunity to visit the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, District Consumer Forum, Debt Recovery Tribunal, Patiala House, Tis Hazari and most significantly – the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
Also, in case of Court visits, you are informed a day in advance about the Court you will have to visit along with the Case Number as you are generally expected to go directly to the Court in the morning, finish your task and then head back to the office.
The visits to the Courts were very enlightening because they gave me an insight onto the actual working of the Court proceedings and all the other procedures that are involved behind filing of various documents.
I improved a lot on my Drafting Skills as that was one of the most predominant tasks I was given.
I finally got a chance to visit the Hon’ble Supreme Court and witness the proceedings.
Also, they have a small kitchen in the office itself. When we were having a long day or were feeling hungry, we would cook maggi or make some tea for ourselves.
They are really strict about discipline and no amount of casual behaviour or attitude towards the work is tolerated.
Performance based. But all your travelling and other expenses you incur during your Court visits are reimbursed.
It is okay to make mistakes but make sure to learn from them and not repeat it again. All that hardwork really does pay off and is worth it by the end of the day.
